I never learned to sew. I never want to either. I know how to do the simple things, like fixing holes in clothes and sewing the outer fabric to make a pillow. But that is it and always will be all. Sewing is a sit still for long periods activity. I am too wiggly.

Never Learned to Sew
never learned to sew
not even mend I don’t know
to sew is to sit and do nothing
so I say no to you
when asked to sew
with idle chit chat
want to do something
anything exciting
with movement of muscle and phlegm
up state to the river I go
a kayak in one hand
a bourbon filled cup in the other hand
and following behind is a little pup
proud I can move and bend
no longer have to sit to mend
because if I have to mend
there’s a garbage nearby
