Sometimes the heart holds the best intentions, knows the strongest of love, and it never fails to leave you wonder, when its gone, if it ever really was.
Smooth pebbles beneath our feet,
we scrolled our names in the sand.
Rushing tides swept them away,
off to never-never land.
We laughed at the hands of time,
swearing that it would never end,
no tidal waves, no promise betrayed,
could sink a single dream we planned.
Those timbers burnt to ashes,
in a place so far from life.
Curled up together in that old hammock,
we slept away so many nights,
love drunk, wild and curious,
we made more vows than we could keep.
Words werent simply emblems,
of whisphers we dared to speak.
That summer we climbed those cliffs,
and watched the sun melt into the earth.
On those stones above, those dips and valleys,
we loved, for what it was worth.
Throwing our secrets in the wind,
they tumbled beyond the tips of the trees.
Spinning, spiraling, twisting, falling,
to be washed away in the cascading streams.
We lived that life for a moment,
until the angry tides rolled in.
that storm took us by surprise,
the night the roof caved in.
All our illusions shattered,
and I have combed through the sand,
for any sign that we ever were,
alive in never-never land.
