A poem reflecting a place featuring an amusement park that once existed in Santa Ynez Valley in California. It welcomed kids and adults alike where many came to see and share in adventures.
Neverland – Susan Varo – 7/3/2009
There was a special place
Although I’ve never been
It’s so much talked about
Just like a long lost friend
Children everywhere
The sights and sounds a dream
With so much room to spare
And a train that ran on steam
Music filled the air
Many came from miles around
Just to see you and your magical home
Some spinning round and round
There was a special time
When you roamed the hills in mirth
But that was long ago
When your feet once touched the earth
Where are you right now
The landscape needs your touch
It replays your accolade
That the world needs just as much
Now the land is barren
Still empty through the night
Is there any magic still
From the second star to the right
Right now the ride is over
And those things left behind
A clock with surrounding flowers
Whose hands you will never wind
If one small child should ask
Because they don’t understand
It was, it is, well to explain
Never mind it was Neverland
