A commentary on our New American culture and how the ideas of working hard to achieve your dreams may be out of reach now.
The American Dream used to be fulfilling
Bright eyed people who worked hard and were so giving
We all had the believe we could achieve something one day
But now, that dream has slowly gone astray
Now, we work hard for a dream we cannot share
Our careers are just jobs we have to work and the money is the only thing we care
It feels like that we make work hard, but have lost all known fun
All we want to do is make enough money to make sure we do not turn into a straggly bum
Money & Default have now replaced Dreams & Goals
Now families wander around, lost and seemingly like some lost soul
We were once told we all could graduate, a dreams would come true
But schools for many is a something that has slowly become unglued
What happened to the American dream?
Has it been torn apart at the seams?
Is this new future of remorse and despair, our goals never achieved?
Are we to believe that all of our goals are never to be believed?
Our new ideals are to try to stick together
Be as one and wear this hardship, whatever the weather
In this new age of debt, hardship, loss, and uncertainty
A new America is being born slowly indeed
