New Beginnings a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay is a poem about beginnings of all kinds. What do new beginnings mean to you? It’s the beginning of a new year and how are going to live it?
New Beginnings
Seven days ago midnight came.
Did you fall asleep like me?
Did you dream about the new year
and what it means to you?
How do you start your new year?
Do you start it with a bang?
Fireworks to celebrate the first
of many days to come.
Are you feeling afraid that this year
is the end? How do you want to live it
if it really is the last year?
What do new beginnings mean to you?
Do you feel that it is a time
to start over, start fresh.
Let a new rose open your days
of new happiness.
We want happiness to last forever,
but as we begin a new year
our happiness
How does one begin to change?
Sometimes we find it hard to change
ourselves.
The beginning of the new year is
a time for new resolutions.
We often think we need to diet, exercise
and maybe quit smoking or drinking.
We try to quit bad habits.
We often want to change our ways
and try new things.
The new year is often a beginning
to start fresh.
Move to a new home, spend more time
doing the things that we like to do.
Welcome a new baby into our lives,
loss of a loved one
and we learn to let go.
Yet we go on. We know they would
never want us to dwell in the past.
Cry and grieve, but go on.
Sometimes love is new and fresh
and we love the new beginnings
that hold promise of a new future
with the one that you love.
So cheers to the new 2012
and new beginnings for all.
Kick start your fresh new dawn.
