New Loves Destiny a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. A love poem about beginning again. Finding love a second time around.
New Loves Destiny
Bitter love, exit the old love.
Hurt, betrayed and water under the bridge.
You felt sadness lingering
for a long time.
It ended, but once it was great.
What happened you wondered?
It went sour and there was nothing you
could do about it.
Yet, you know deep in your heart
you could never go back.
So you waited patiently,
tended your own garden. And waited.
And sometimes you wondered,
would love ever knock on your door again?
You know, the red door with the wreath
made of delicate roses.
The scent is surely enough to attract
a man to your door you think.
Yet, you silently wait. And wait.
Yet, the time isn’t right.
Then suddenly, you were pruning
your roses and your hydrangea bushes.
You kept nurturing your own
authentic self.
Suddenly, when you weren’t aware,
someone entered your beautiful garden.
It’s him. He didn’t knock. You weren’t expecting him.
He said, “Hello, sweetie.”
You locked eyes and then you knew.
Remember that tiny seed you planted?
In a dream you called to him
and he came to help your seed grow.
It was the seed of new love
that now is sitting on the love seat
next to you.
He is asking you to share your inner voice
with him and wants to share his with you.
New love has spoken.
