This has been a very trying year for me in terms of my personal life, my finances and my health. I had prayed for a drama-free 2011, but it didn’t turn out quite that way, to say the least. I am looking forward to leaving this year behind and moving toward something better.

A new year, a new start

A new life for me

Moving ever closer to

What I’m supposed to be

I didn’t try to plan it out

God chuckles when I do

For only He can chart my course

But I must follow through

What He has in store for me

I can’t quite comprehend

I feel a shift is coming that

Will bring a happy end

So as this year comes to a close

I put the past behind

Press toward the mark He set for me

My purpose redefined

Wow, Ashan! I’ve never read any of your poems until today, and I have to honestly say you’re VERY talented. I’m sorry that 2011 was harsh. Here’s hopes and prayers that 2012 will be better for you.

I hope 2012 will be a better year for you. I hope it is good for me too because this year was not that great for me either. First my grandmother died and then my mother was sick for a while.
