This poem is a bit late but it says how I feel about the New Year.

Ten new years resolutions

are all you should make

That should be the solution

That’s all you should take.

Never make a resolution about your diet.

Unless it is to eat all the chocolate within sight

You’ll break this resolution anyway

You may as well make it right

Ditto for exercise, resolve to be a couch potato

resolve to not move, you’ll become  so bored

You’ll be rushing out the door

If only to get a tomato

For your salad

Never quarrel with your spouse?

Get real;, it is easier to be as quiet as a mouse.

Try and tidy around the house

Do it with great zeal

But don’t expect him to notice.

That cigarette or that glass of beer

Bad habits to quit indeed

But don’t put so much pressure

At the start of the year

Take each day within its heed

So what resolutions should we have

In this New Year?

Live with vigor, health, humour and generosity.
