The evil in the night wants your soul.

Beat, Beat, Beat
Thumping, thrumming, booming
The sound grasps my soul
Darkness seeking more
Lightning stabs it once and twice
But grow it does

Beat, Beat, Beat
The chanting is  flowing on
Clouds hide the stars
Wind rustles the leaves
Dark shapes mill about

Beat, Beat, Beat
Her heart is heard to throb
Fear fills it full
Louder and  louder she hears it
Beating within her  mind

Beat, Beat, Beat
The crowd flows about her
Te chanting becomes softer
She sees the flash above her head

Quiet!

Glad I didn’t read this one at night. It would make my heart thump in fear.

all i picture is the sacrifices you see in movies. Milton, your mind is creepy at times.

Quite a scary picture, Milton. You let your imagination go there. Well done.

Have you ever walked alone in a field at 2 o,clock in the morning with an ominous red light beckoning in the distance because I have and this poem really reminds me of that.

Very nice poem, I like the rise and fall of emotions.
