Summer nights in OK.
Heat lightning leaps from cloud to cloud above
the humid glow of the city
where recklessly bored teens slap at the high-pitched
keen of mosquitoes and
glare helplessly at the stars, so brazen in their distance
from this tightening noose of obscurity
