This is a revision of my poem called Show Me. I worked hard to make it concrete and the little vagueness that is there is there for a purpose.

I cannot see anything.  I breathe. Liquid is in my lungs.

A cord extends from my belly.  I touch its slick surface.

I am surrounded by warmth. Something grabs my head.

My hair is ripped out which makes me angry.

My heartbeat speeds up. Two somethings tug on me.

I feel cold air hit my body. I shiver.

I hear “your son is handsome. He has blue eyes and blond hair.”

I am puzzled by these words. Something is shoved into my nose.

I cough. I choke. I cry.  I want to see what took me from my home.
