It’s hard to believe it’s been nine years!

In 9 short years

What have we learned?

Through pain and tears

As cities burned.

*

Lives were cut short

Shocking a nation.

A call to arms

Brought obliteration.

*

What caused this storm?

Some cried before it came!

Ignorance was the norm

And is still to blame.

*

An eye for an eye,

‘Til we’re all blind and toothless.

We justify the means

Even when they are ruthless.

*

Families torn to pieces

But where does it end?

Only when this ceases

Can love heal and mend.

oh it\’s been 9 years since that dreadful day, i can only hope that the pain of that day had been healed, i know some would need more than 9 years… thanks for reminding us Joe

O yes, 9/11. Terrible time and the wounds that may never heal are still felt in various corners of the world, my country included. It’s not really the lack of wealth and power that is the problem in this world; it’s the lack of love for God and man. Great post, Joe.

This poem made me really sad as it made my mind focus on sad events (ignorant terrorist attacks, no less ignorant and cruel wars that followed destroing even more innocent lives …) and sad fact about the nature of human race.
Anyway, I think that this poem is one of the best ones I’ve ever read as it left a lot of strong emotion in me.

Thank you all for understanding the point I was trying to make.. It’s really hard sometimes to realize we’re in the wrong when we feel we’re so right.. I in no way tried to disrespect those who died that day or glorify what happened.. It’s still a subject that gets people’s blood boiling.. I still think though, that peace and understanding is the only way we’ll ever truly heal from it.
    Thank you again! :)
