Some school aged children enjoy attention, no matter what kind of attention it is. But all of them need good attention now and then to feel good about themself.

I too feel sad
on the lonely side of things
is today going to be
a day to stay in
out of the spotlight
or should going into society
to be viewed by onlookers
a way to change things
knowing it won’t last long
this lonely, sad feeling of despair
I shall leave now
trying to be happy, carefree
yet realizing no longer am I
able to be the class clown
never making people laugh
but always hiding behind the make-up
always hiding
