A poem about life.

I bought a table
Built for four,
Sent invitations
To my front door,
We will sit and talk
Until the night is through,
One person missing
And you know it’s you.
I should hate you,
But I only despise,
Holding anger inside
Would not be wise,
Scars still colored
Red, black and blue,
The pain will linger,
You believe it too.
I cried so many tears,
They made a river swell,
The dam held them
Until the hammer fell,
I often wonder how
You live with your self,
Now I have placed you
On the bottom shelf.
Sometimes a nightmare
Shows me your pain,
It does not bother me,
I was Abel, you were Cain,
After time has passed,
After the years I grew,
I disowned you,
You know it’s true.
Sunlight glistens,
I kneel and pray,
That your memory
Will fade away,
I open my eyes,
But ever you are there,
I have to learn how
Not to care.
