A poem about life.

I bought a table

Built for four,

Sent invitations

To my front door,

We will sit and talk

Until the night is through,

One person missing

And you know it’s you.

I should hate you,

But I only despise,

Holding anger inside

Would not be wise,

Scars still colored

Red, black and blue,

The pain will linger,

You believe it too.

I cried so many tears,

They made a river swell,

The dam held them

Until the hammer fell,

I often wonder how

You live with your self,

Now I have placed you

On the bottom shelf.

Sometimes a nightmare

Shows me your pain,

It does not bother me,

I was Abel, you were Cain,

After time has passed,

After the years I grew,

I disowned you,

You know it’s true.

Sunlight glistens,

I kneel and pray,

That your memory

Will fade away,

I open my eyes,

But ever you are there,

I have to learn how

Not to care.

It is always sad when the people we most care about show us how little we mean to them. The pain of this piece is prevailant. Nice work.
