Acquiescent: (def) Ready to accept something without protest, or to do what someone else wants.

Here I am acquiescent

Not coy, nor demure

I am simply less confident; brittle edged

Less sure

I am not the same anymore

Somewhere along the unpaived road

I forgot the rules or ignored

The admonishments,

And the common sense

Became drunk on some silent form of

Stupidity

Laced with passive belligerence

That only now has scoop out my apple’s core

And replaced it with the seeds of regret

There is something in the human spirit that despises being totally aquiescent to another’s will. Good poem.

Why does the phrase ” passive belligerence” speak to me. Cords and whips aimed at the Pharisees outside the temple did not change them. Thank God the Son is here. Enjoyed the video. Love the way RH taps his feet.

Marlene, I love RH too. He was never appreciated for the talent he was/is. Not many black folk artist were actually except for maybe Bill Withers who I also dig.

I was actually reading today about Stephen when he met before the Sanhedrin right before they stoned him to death for speaking so courageously about his role as a christian. Holy Spirit empowered him with the courage to speak boldly even though he knew his message would not be received well. Telling the Jewish leaders of their potential fate and calling them murderers of Jesus took guts and real conviction.
