A poem that I wrote for English class on Mona Lisa. I know why she doesn’t smile.
Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, I understand why you don’t smileIn your heart there has been hurt all the while Pain hiding behind your magnificent eyes I recognized it, I was not surprised
Your pain, your shame, and your regretWell, Mona, there is no need to fret Your heart will go on through each and every trial I’ve been through this too, for a while
It can be seen in your forced smile or in the pain behind your eyes I never understood how you went so long before someone realized So clearly obvious is your discomfort and your sadness I can see it though, I know you are in distress
The whole world speculates and agrees you are filled with glee However I know, I know that is incorrect, because I relate to thee Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, I understand why you don’t smile In your heart there has been hurt all the while
