Reflections on love found but not kept.

gentle stream,

tranquil and calm

quietly deliberate

obedient in conformity

flowing without stir nor ripple

subdued wild heart,

surrendering your search

majestic dreamer,

resigned by duty

concealed well

who knows your breadth,

felt your depth,

mourns your reach

long lost days of playful summers

childhood dreams

innocent youthful passions

fleeting, veiled by years

unexplored and forsaken

stacked on tidy dusty shelves

as not to interfere with the importance of life’s agenda

no longer a threat to convenience or duty

nor challenge to heart or mind

an unnoticed retreat into the coolness and safety

the numbness of depth

in the bareness of winter

a blossom revealed

along a common bend

inimitable, white petals

delicate and drenched in dew

an elegant curtsey

she peers into shadowy water

past her perfect reflection, she finds him

her kindly gaze guilds gracefully over weary shoulders

her words fall tenderly, delicately

her thoughts waft through his mind

daintily swirls about him

her presence inspires, enchants

years melt at her vision

reminding him of adolescent desires

before love was known, or forgotten

their eyes holding hands like shy children

his heart pounds, embarrassed that she might hear

mislaid dreams stir restlessly

from his deep hiding place, she draws him near

alongside, they behold two lover’s embrace

their hearts yearn, then descend

gliding thru the darkness

their private little perch

momentarily or was it forever

slipping coffee & tea as poured by Pyotr

praying it would never end

in the dim light

she beamed like porcelain

blissfully unaware, their momentary season is pulled from them

to find her, only to loose her

consoled to know she does exist
