Whatsoever things you do, whether in word or deed do ALL to the glory of God and not to men.
I often get discouraged
And grumble in despair,
When my works unnoticed,
Ignored as if not there.
It’s then, I must remind myself,
I labor not for men.
But for the God who rescued me
And saved me from my sin.
It’s not men’s laud I honor.
It’s not men’s praise I seek.
But for Christ alone I labor
To lay gifts at His feet.
In the quietness of early dawn,
You spoke your message clear,
“Your labor’s not invain, my son,
Tho unnoticed, unread down here.
Your treasure’s in a higher place
On eternity’s golden shore.
It’s then, we’ll sing those of praise,
Salvation, peace and more.”
In that great day in Glory,
When to Christ I shall appear
And I shall bow before Him
With humbleness and tears.
It’s then my works shall be revealed,
For Christ and mine alone.
Those for Christ will last and last.
But mine, like chaff, shall burn.
It’s not men’s laud we honor.
It’s not men’s praise we seek.
But for Christ alone we labor
To lay gifts at His feet.
