There is a person with whom I fell deeply in love with. After some time it became apparent that I wanted to completely consume his every moment. An obsession, if you will. After a few years away from him, I realized that I would much rather share him than be without him. This poem is about my compromise.
seasons come and go
slowing down the hours
greedily stealing moments
steadily steering your life
and mine
harsh winds blowing
changing my mind
reality showing
for the first time
each direction is new
and right
every step I slowly take
is in a new light
take me as I am, and,
please,
forgive me
for showing my evil needs.
take my offering
of simple friendliness
it’s to God’s ears I confess.
I am a new person
inside and out
I show no fear,
jealousy nor doubt
I am who I am
as you are too
to converse and to share,
it’s all I ask of you.
take your time
as the days go by
to cherish all those in your life.
the ones who have and will spend many years
the ones who have left
in smiles and tears
let me have my little slice
of You in your busy life
I wont hoard it with greed
but savor,
savor indeed
to know the man;
that man who I need
to share joyful moments
at times to confide
it’s clear to me now:
your life is not mine.
