To feel excluded from the community in which you live is painful and at times difficult to explain, so why not do it in a poem.
It feels so lonely inside
The pain feels like a scream
It bores so cold and deep
Yet no blood can be seen
My words are not heard
Am I speaking in tongues
No response is returned
Inside a cry for belonging
My presence is not accepted
I cannot be seen
Look at me, recognise me
Just backs I see turned
I am an outsider
With no ticket to enter
The secret clan of society
The fun the laughs the belonging
The circle has been formed
Outside it I stand
No name no face no presence
Just an annoying irritant
The screaming inside me
So overwhelming and devastating
The pain washes through me
With waves of sadness
I stand with my arms out
Stretching till it hurts
Reaching for acceptance
Longing to be heard
Nothing comes back
My search is fruitless
No connection is made
The loneliness continues
