A short poem from a woman who walks out on her lover but enjoys her life after when she goes on holiday.

Oh my love, I left you behind

to take this break by myself,

you had to work but I couldn’t wait

I know you will think that was unkind.

***************

You gave me a home and trinkets of gold,

all the jewelry under the sun it meant such a lot.

But all the pressures of a beautiful life was too much,

affairs with other women were bound to unfold.

***************

The Parties, innuendos with others influenced by booze,

and the keys on the table for partner swapping.

It was the last straw, I had to get out, I only wanted you,

but I am here now taking a mid-summer cruise.

***************

You wouldn’t listen when I got raped by Ian,

that last night I didn’t want to play the game.

He didn’t want to take no for an answer,

I’m sorry I burst in as you were with Lian.

***************

But now I am cruising on the ocean waves,

in the Caribbean drinking Bacardi and Coke.

served by a waiter so big and strong,

I wonder how many other damsels he saves.

***************

I realise as I write this letter to you today,

the dream I had when you were in the next room.

although I still love you, I opened the safe so thanks,

now a life so beautiful, my love far away

***************
