-A.N.Trani.
Smiling as cities lay to waste,
Railing sliding across smoother hips
Hands clutching
To -the running and the screaming-
The dreams which once made us laugh
To kiss you is a slow death
-Poison pumping through the veins-
Like the brush of a toothy-kiss against chest
We were so convinced that we would be different
-Unaffected
Free-
Not lost like the wishes behind stars
-Once, we drifted in the wind-
Snapping with the life inside plastic bags
Before the bitterness sank in
Chilling the bones
And settling unsettlingly in the marrow
Rain dripping down the side of faces
Slipping into the space between kisses
Sweet and salty
Tears like sweat
Fingernails breaking skin
To air our guilt
And dirty laundry like
Tiny testaments to our faith
That if there is something,
It disappeared much longer
Than the time it took
For us to grow up.
