Music doesn’t move me, alcohol doesn’t heal me, cigarettes do not calm me, and food doesn’t nourish me…
it was like walking through an endless field of knee high grass and wildflowers
until you get to the ocean and then you lay in the sand and watch the waves roll in.
you just breathe the sweet salty air and the sky is the blue-est blue,
and the sun just kisses your skin because the weather is just that perfect
as you lay there, your caught somewhere between a nap and relaxation,
entranced by your surroundings.
the wind is a whisper on your skin and even a grey storm cloud couldn’t ruin the moment
because it’s just that beautiful.then came the traffic,
the city lights,
walking the streets,
the homeless in their shelters,
the man with the guitar and the ragged case
hoping for a donation of faith.
is it 3am or 4?
i can’t remember my name anymore,
what was the last thing i ate?
when is the last time i slept?
why are my hands still shaking?
i have how much money in my bank account?
i work today, tomorrow, and the next for eternity.
music doesn’t move me, alcohol doesn’t heal me,
cigarettes do not calm me, food doesn’t nourish me,
and water cannot quench my thirst! it’s a sex sells industry-he says,
so how do i fit in?
some good friends throw me life rings,
but has anyone seen my sanity?
