A snapshot of a few afternoon moments from a front doorstep.

Afternoon sky, a sapphire
admired from inside-out,
no clouds deface the inner curve.
Tall treetops in mid disrobe
form the setting for this jewel.

Stampedes of new-fallen leaves
pursued by swirling winds
chatter with terrified laughter.
A neighborhood thief runs through,
gray tail carried high and proud.

Tart tonic of autumn breeze
refreshing on greedy skin.
Hot summertime winds are behind.
Chill rains and first winter snows
are only apprehension.

Sound hesitates a moment,
returns as discordant calls
of crows and Canadian geese.
A feast ensues, as senses
partake in October’s gifts.

I’d like October’s Gifts framed amidst a background of what you are priviledged to see from Minnesota’s Autumn artwork!

This is marvelous. Very much October in my neck of the woods. Great poem. Have you done a book?
