They rowed into the record books and landed on my beach. James Castrission and Justin Jones rowed their Kayak from November 13, 2007 to January 13, 2008 (62 days) from their home city, Sydney, across the Tasman Sea to Ngamotu Beach in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.

They rowed across the Tasman Sea
From Australia to Taranaki
Through dire storms and sky-high breakers
These two brave, young Record Makers!
Days and days at sea, rowing, were passed,
Their food got low; would their strength last?
They circled round, in skitter skaters,
But they kept rowing, these Record Makers!
They rowed and rowed – over fifty long days
They rowed some more and through the haze
They saw a mountaintop over the breakers
They did not stop, these Record Makers!
They landed on “my” own home beach
What joy, what cheers from thousands, to each -
These boys, these men, these Record Takers
Go down in history as Record Makers!
“Well done! Well done!” we shouted, we screamed!
The weakened rowers with sunburned faces, beamed!
They stumbled to land, to those sandy acres,
Well done! Well done, Brave Record Makers!
Well done, Congratulations!
