Summer is playtime for me, but a lot of it is actually spent outside or with my animals, getting ready for winter, lesson planning and myriad other summer time chores. But one day last winter, when I was home with a nasty head cold I discovered Farmville. After that day, my farm lay fallow till yesterday. I had a little fun with it, then as I was checking it this am, this poem came to me.

I had such fun
On my farm to day
The Sheep and Pigs
Came out to play.

Just a click
And then its plowed
Another click,
And seeds are sowed.

Outside the sun
Is high in the sky
Weeds are tall
I can’t deny.

The dogs want walked
My cats would play
But I really
Haven’t time today.

I have some wheat
That needs harvested soon
Strawberries will
Need picked at noon.

My friends’ farms
Need raccoons chased away
Sorry my very dears,
I can’t play today.

Dirt and dust and dishes
All of them pile high
The mountain of laundry
Is reaching for the sky

But here in Farmville
All is neat and clean
For it only takes a click
To keep it fresh and green.

Try having a real farm.. more fun, more work, more stress… and today some of the ewes are crying because we sold three lambs yesterday.

As a fellow Farmville player I could relate to this poem (too well). I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you!

My stepgrandfather had a farm. We had some good times on that farm when I was a kid. This poem brings back some good memories.

B., in the real world today I walked both dogs, cleaned some ears, and cuddled my oldest cat who isn’t looking well. I grew up on a farm, and I’ve had gardens and animals of my own for the last 30 years. That’s why I find the click and grow mode such a hoot.

Personally, I have tried to stay away from those addictive games. I don’t know if it is rude to ignore all of those facebook game requests. I would rather know what my friends are really up to, not what games they are playing.

Oh Daisy, I haven’t been there yet but some of my friends are really caught up in it. I can’t risk it so I stay far away.

B would be addicted to it too quick to even give it a try.. I know she is tempted… I know she loves the real animals but also likes the challenge of games and they have a real way of pulling such a person in.

She knows you take good care of your real critters too.

I grew my farm on Farmville as big as I could get it and then I quit, my husband still plays with it. I would rather go out in my backyard and work my real veggie garden and water my flowers. In the real world, I cleaned house today. It was too hot for a dog walk with the heat index around 105. My babies wanted to sleep under the AC all day.

Good one. In the game we do have it simple. A click here and a click there and the crops grow. In real farms its a lot more work :)
