Another towering antipodean wonder-tree – the Flame Tree.

Flame Tree

Let me utter a secret,
Of Australians born,
Brachychiton Acerifolius -  burning so long,
Flaming red fire against cerulean sky,
Invoking a gasp, intoxicatingly high.

Words fall as mere mumbles against one such a tree,
Powerful, potent and definitively, “She,”
Flame Trees though inhabitant,
Are worldwide in reach,
Go watch them a-flower is all I entreat.

Worth all the sweat of your Aussie escapade,
Cooking the sky plus giving cool shade,
Towering high like 9/11 a-fire,
If you’re not gob smacked then brand me, “LIAR!”

I’ll go away from you now with my darling song,
For the sumptuousness of Flame Trees,
I could perpetually go on.
