The checkout girl lets the customer know the real story.

When we say hello, its curtesy to say it back.

If we never bothered, it would be us that you would attack.

We ask if you have bags because we are told to, not because we care.

Its only when you ask me to double up a bag for a lemon, that I start to pull out my hair.

The belt is designed to move, please dont put vouchers or money on them to lose.

Please dont let your kids choose games they are not aged to buy.

Or try and purchase the pile of drink I just watched your daughter choose.

This contrary to belief is not me being picky, but lets me keep my job and go on without a large fine.

The store could also lose its permit, you can be the one to tell our customers the reasons why.

We only ever try and help you, we even offer to help you pack.

My only gripe is when I am blinded by swinging bags, before i’ve even started to chat

If your old and a little slow, please let us do our bit

We can do it faster, and it saves that cranky hip.

A note to the lunchtime rusher though, we do not cause the problem of your time

You want to get back to your work, give me a chance to complete mine.

It takes two seconds to answer a simple question please do not grab or start to groan.

If you are not going to have the duration to complete the shopping, please free to spend it alone.

The basket till doesn’t make us super human, the speed is just the same.

The only difference is smaller lots of shopping, it really is that plain.

Just a simple reminder to all, the cost is not my choice.

Its you that picked up more, than the scribbles on your line.

Then we are at the paying part, the one we all least enjoy.

Me in the most part, watching grown men, turn into that sulky boy.

You obviously can work a cash machine, so please use it at your free will.

Don’t chuck your card on the counter, when youd decide you can’t work the chip and pin sitting at my till.

Feel free to check your receipt, but dont look at us with suspicion in youre eyes.

End of the day, it seems in this relationship we are the only one that tried.
