New life and old sin entwined without end…

A child arrives
and the world cycles
in new ways.
Of mystery born
bundled up with pain
and errors of the past.

Astonished joy
for what may unfold
in new dreams.
An ebullient time
twisted into strands
of worry and concern.

A child does smile
and the days brighten
with new life.
But innocence held
withers in the glare
of many fathers’ sins.

We are at the stage of life where we understand more fully the difficulties ahead for these new young lives and the important role the generations before play in who they become, aren’t we?

So aptly put, Casey. Hope meshed with pain–tied to the past, present and future. Very enjoyable read.

Innocence withers in the glare…. Wow. Such an apt description of the soul of a new mother.
