We can be surprised, sometimes, at what may strike an emotional chord.

The Wizard of Oz
was on tv,
I cried when
Judy Garland sang
of somewhere
over the rainbow.

I must have
remembered something,
forgotten
those years ago.

Or, perhaps it was
a reminder,
that I did not
believe in dreams,
or make wishes
of yellow brick roads.

Nice one – I’m pleased you’re ’show-casing’ some of your earlier works – keep them coming, my friend

This grabs the heart unexpectedly, like the moment you describe.

Is it a loss of innocence, a gradual suppression of our willingness to dream those big dreams we had as children, that grips us in these moments, I wonder? During moments like this sometimes ‘Growing up’ seems more to mean ‘growing numb’.

That song always makes me cry.. Such a song of hope, and yet laced with sadness.

The song tells us to keep dreaming; but sometimes we stop hoping and dreaming, and once we do that’s when despair surrounds us.

Such a sad and beautiful poem. I’m sure we have all been there. Thank you for sharing.
