Prayer is the bridge between God and man. Prayer is the spiritual breath that exhilerates the soul. It is all-embracing, testing our stamina to endure tribulation, but by the same token, the only way through which we can assure ourselves that there is nothing to fear, but fear itself; but fear can be melted down to courage when we cross that bridge that connects us with the Lord.
Oh, Lord!
Brighten all my days!
Crown my life with health and wisdom;
Troubles may persist and stay,
For I know they’re part of living;
Let them not impede my way!
Oh, Lord!
Lighten all my burdens!
If I may complain in moments
Of despair, I beseech thee, as I pray,
Let them not encroach on freedom
Of my will, but go away!
Oh, Lord!
Strengthen my endurance!
As I take the whips and lashes,
‘Midst the shadows that may play
All around me and about me,
Let not cruel evil sway
O’er my spirit; let me bear
Pain but stoutly if I may!
Make each day, in every way,
Pleasant as I humbly pray!
Oh, Lord!
As I bow before you now,
Let my soul breathe deeper in
Your sacred trust and kindness,
Steer my soul away from blindness
As I try to do my best
Lord! I pray you do the rest
That I may but conquer troubles
As the faith within me bubbles.
Oh, Lord!
I confess that I am nothing
But a feather in your presence,
I am a speck of dust in essence,
Let me step on paths of wisdom,
As I cross the bridge of prayer,
Let me understand my weakness
Of which I am well aware!
