Poem about the ocean

Oh, Ocean, why toss sailors high,
Breaking rocky coast jutting to sky,
With wave tops white as snow,
And great tides that beckon low,
Have you mind of your own,
To challenge land so well known?

Oh, Ocean, why wavering tide,
That deep so green and blue inside,
Displaying misty beaches forlorn,
Sounding call to lone foghorn,
So why mood at all,
When sea creatures to beckon call?

Oh, Ocean, why follow moon,
Playing shores with watery tune,
Grinding ages the cave-scarred rocks,
Sailing ships into their docks,
Why froth and spray,
As if forever not stay?

Oh, Ocean, why plentiful abide,
Withholding treasures that hide,
Staring at starry universe so vast,
Hoping you too that long will last,
When silvery moon bids time to roll,
Go on, forever, your challenging soul.
