On a recent night, I went for stars gazing in the hope of catching a glimpse of the Geminid meteor shower, which I heard is the best meteor show of 2009. Guess what? I saw over 20 shooting stars in a span of three hours! What an incredible experience.

The velvet night sky
Was painted with luminous stars.
Shining as they were,
Like small Christmas ornaments.
Glorious Moon was absent,
With the rolls of fluffy clouds.
Oblivious in the night sky,
Anticipating an excitement.
Then came the streak
Of illumination.
One so fast,
It may be hallucination.
There went another,
And more on cue.
One could only wonder
The beauty and the splendour.
Too fast to stop,
To look and stare.
For they flashed
In the speed of light,
Unabashed.
Too fast to ruminate,
To make a wish.
For those bright lights,
Would soon vanish.
Fallen stars go somewhere
But who would have known
Where they had gone?
Shooting stars,
Oh, shooting stars,
So I wonder where you are?
Sights like this may not last,
But at least that was quite a blast!
Watching the night sky in a different light,
What an incredible unforgettable dusk!
