A poem describing the elderly.

I watch her

silently.

Shoulders that were once ramrod straight

now bent.

She shuffles her feet

in fear of falling if she picks them up.

Her thin hair styled like she was meeting

her love.

A smile.

Deep lines ingrained with wonderful memories

and laughter.

Her hand touches mine and she squeezes.

I squeeze back

and wink.
