Everyone deals with death, but the memories you keep, will keep you strong. Always celebrate life.
It seems like not so long ago,
When you were here with me.
Chasing each other in the park,
Climbing that old oak tree.
Laughter filled the Spring air,
As pastel petals float above.
Swinging from branch to branch,
Was something we were proud of.
Oh! How we would talk,
And how we would play.
Until the street lights came on,
And the sun went away
.
One morning the sky was dark,
The sun refused to rise.
A day when the rain wouldn’t stop,
From either the clouds or my eyes.
You see for a soul was lost
Within the cold august night,
The chance to hold you was gone.
But I still put up the fight.
It was so sad to see you go.
As they laid you in the ground.
Tears and cries filled the air,
No smiles that day, were to be found.
Now as the days go by,
I still lay a rose at our oak tree.
Remembering the days of fun and laughter.
The days of you and me.
But just because you are not here
Doesn’t mean that you are forever gone.
Sure your body has been lost,
But your laughter forever lives on.
