A poem about the changing world and the way it looks from the perspective of a tree.

Here I have stood
For a long, long time
Watching the changing view
I have seen your city
Spreading and slowly
approaching me
Like a cancer, creeping
Slowly towards me
My days have been measured by the speed of your growth
I have seen what you do
But I have stood strong
Against many a strong gale
and the nastiest storms
Yet it is your council
that will decide my fate
Whether my beauty and
service to you, is enough to save me
will be determined at another time
By a council that has its own agenda
Here I have stood
for a long, long time
