Poem I wrote February 4, 2010.
In a far away place across the sands of time
The birds cheerfully chirp and the church bells chime
On a white horse pulling an elegant carriage
Prince Charming and his princess readied for marriage
Oh my how the tables might turn
Oh my the things these two could learn
Oh my what hid between the trees
What these two had blown off as just the breeze
In a dream of a place, he handed her white roses
The wedding bouquet, one hand closes
In a fairytale land they jumped from the dark
Happily ever after died in the park
Oh my how the tables might turn
Oh my the things these two would learn
Oh my what hid between the trees
That these two had blown off as just the breeze
Swords flying, horse spooked, the carriage tipped
In her getaway the fairytale princess tripped
The mask of the attacker, the glint of a knife
She never saw them take her prince’s life
In a far away place across the sands of time
The birds all fell silent as the church sang one last chime
On a white horse dragging a once elegant carriage
Prince Charming and his princess skipped their marriage
In fairytale lands, this storybook closes
Happily never after on a bed of White Roses
