On a cold winters’ day I looked out my window
It was then I realized I longer had to look into it
I was free to understand the world as I saw it
Excuses were a thing of the past, a memory
The sadness that accompanied me most of my life
Had been lifted like a veil from my face, cast aside
My heart was no longer blind my eyes beating to a new rhythm
Solitude, once a welcomed friend was banished forever
Fulfillment was mine for the taking
On a cold winters day I realized the sun was shining bright
Brighter it shone than any other day of my life
I no longer cared how the world viewed me
I had reason and understanding I never knew before
Being who I was brought me great pleasure, a future
Here was the place of my wildest dreams
My mind, my spirit, my soul were all in tune
Welcoming me to my place in this new world
Without a care I ventured, discovering
On a cold winters day my summer began
My days grew longer, my life grew warmer
A seed planted a lifetime ago had finally come to bloom
Like a hummingbird I cherished the nectar
Sweet & inviting, needed by every person to survive
Drawn to it like a moth to a flame
With knowledge of being burned yet not caring
It was you who sent me free from a lifetime of sorrow
On a cold winters’ day I found you, I found Love
