You’ve sowed the seeds
Diligently you watered them
Day after day
While in the fields nurturing them

That was how you became
The man that you were
Supposed to be
You hung in there
Hell bent on accomplishing
Your goals

By sheer determination
You were able to beat the odds
Urged on by your teachers
Who stood by your side

They chastised you
When you fell short
They became your cheerleaders
Urging you on to greater
And greener pastures

Little by little you began to bloom
Beautiful petals that alarmed everyone
You’re now an asset to your community
Following in the footsteps
Of all the great souls that preceded you

You’re no longer a rose
For you’ve become a garden
With many roses
That beautify your surroundings
Day and night

You’ve earned a place
As that special bed of roses
For which you’ve longed
