Thoughts from an idyllic beach.

Over miles of golden sands we walked,
and by the azure water sat and talked,
the seagulls swooped and soared above
our heads,
the sunset sky was full of golds and reds.

Far out at sea a fishing smack sailed by,
the seabirds followed with their hungry cry.
The gentle waves lapped softly on the shore
whilst further out we’d hear the breakers roar.

Then later on, beneath the blazing sun,
with sea and sky so blue they seemed as one,
the sound of tiny children filled our ears
with laughter, as the sand pie disappears,
stolen by the wave that dares to reach
inch by inch, still further up the beach.

At times we’d walk and it would seem to be
that there was no-one else on earth but
you and me.
Secluded in our own deserted land,
alone with just the seagulls and the sand.

And then, in just the space of but an hour,
the families and visitors would pour into
our world, with all their shouts and noise
and fill the beach with laughing girls and
boys.
