A poem about cartoon hospitality.

One Day at the Cartoon Club

by Lew Sethics

Strollin’ down the boulevard
I spied upon a cartoon club
And decided to partake of cartoon hospitality.
But no-one must have heard me knock,
And so I entered by myself
And let me tell you, jack,
A Cartoon Club is what it be.

A man with a  “S” upside his chest
He ask me what I’m  lookin for?
I laugh and pull a big green rock
From just inside my  magic bag.
And as he falls a bunch of guys
With wings and capes and whole lots more
Begin to holler cartoon things
All I can do is laugh and laugh.

Then someone say “Hey, he’s no ‘toon!”
My magic bag float out the room!
I knew that Sue Storm took it
Cuz I didn’t see nobody there.
I knew that I was on the spot!
This place was gettin’ plenty hot!
There was only one escape
And it wasn’t had by playing fair!

I reached into my pocket
And found my Faber-Castell
Then I waved it at at the ‘toons
Just to let them know who’s master
First I pointed at the lead side
Then I showed them the erasor
By the time they got the picture
I was busy on the paper.

I drew myself all over
Then I did it once again
Pretty soon they were outnumbered
All of me against all of them.
Then we showed them our erasors
And we started in to rub
We had them on their knees
And they said they’d had enough!

We erased this one’s arm off
Then erased that ones eyes
Started erasing at the feet
And worked up to the thighs
Couldn’t erase no faster
We was laughing like a loon
They couldn’t erase me
Because I wasn’t a cartoon.

Then I erased the cartoon club,
I’d had a good time, that’s enough,
Cuz if you want a good time in this world
You gotta take it.
But let me give you some advice
Although those clubs are pretty nice
Don’t go to one without a sharpened pencil,
You won’t make it!
