One Drink To many

Peter and his buddies had just got of work,

a very hectic day with his boss at his back.

Peter was only an hour late with his report,

Peter thought his boss was out of proportion.

So Peter and his friends went out for a drink,

Playing a few games of pool to relax some.

But before any of the guys had planned on it,

Their one or two drinks turned into several.

Michael asked Peter if he wanted to race,

the winner got the pink slips to both cars.

They agreed and the race was on immediately,

the reeve of the motors drowning out the music.

But neither saw the third car approaching them,

a small Toyota with a mom and twochildren in it.

Peter hit her car and it took no time in exploding,

Michael’s car spun out of control and hit a pole.

Now Peter is charged with a triple murder now,

Michael was charged with a drunk driving charge.

A husband is now without a wife andtwo children,

They are now in heavenfree of the horrible crash.

Peter got a life sentence with no chance of parole,

Michael got 20 years for being an accessory to it.

The husband has a grief no one can hope to fix,

he now has to live without his wife and children.

Up in heaven the wife and children are watching,

the kids missing a father and the wife a husband.

Michael died of a heart attack after seven years,

Peter has a lifetime to think about what he did.

Drinking and driving isnt a good thing at all.It causes destruction and sometimes death.A great piece and brings to light a problem that is still being dealt with.

Unfortunately this happens all too often. Your poem should be posted in every bar for all to read and ponder.

A reality check for all of us. So sad but so true.

Yeah, a good message in there, Roxanne.

It is so true and very unfortunate that it happens as much as it does. Wish that people would get the message instead of listening to their ego or the drink. Great work.
