Drunkenness.

The day you got married I never knew
That a couple years later you would be dying too
Dancing out on the floor I was to shy
To ask for a dance from this handsome guy

I begged myself to go, to offer him my hand
Dancing on his wedding night, he would understand
But he was known to party, and drinks were never few
I would never see him again, I had no clue

The truck refused to stop, no skid marks to show
No seat belt was worn; he was to drunk to know
His body lay crumbled, broken on the earth
The truck lost its life, losing all of its worth

Lying on the hospital bed, no chance to live
He left me with a sad heart and still my dance to give
As the machines started ringing, telling all who would hear
That Cody, my cousin, died becuase of beer
