Moving on, after accepting the end of a forbidden love.
Writing Challenge #10, Forbidden Love and Family.

She went out for a needed stroll
one sunny Sunday afternoon in the park.
Thereupon, she chanced to meet again
the subject of a once forbidden love
she was so hoping to forget.

He’s with his lovely family,
his arm around his wife’s shoulders;
his other hand clasped tightly by his pretty little daughter.

They just shared a knowing, secret smile
as their gazes, for a quiet second locked.

And with that one unexpected encounter,
She finally bade him goodbye.
(One she should have uttered years ago,
on the very day he left her.)

So then her life had taken on, a new and different start
when she went out for a needed stroll
one sunny Sunday afternoon in the park.

Yes, the tittle of this poem serves the poem so well that the diction of this piece tells exactly the name of the poem. And it is true, the kind of love is always forbidden.

    You have done well here!

Check me out; will you, please!

Good write. I’ve had this happen to me before in a grocery store. An old flame that brought back rememberance of a shared moment in time. Nice entry for the challenge. Well done.

Just wonder what would have happened if instead it were to rain that day.

  • DulceCorazon on Sep 16, 2009

That’s some food for thought. Maybe she would have forgotten him eventually. :-) But, thank God for sunny Sunday afternoons!

Very good entry to the challenge. I didn’t see it so much as sad as it was a healthy resolve to something that should have died a long time ago. Maybe her next walk in the park will mean a locked gaze with an unforbidden love.
