Finding our one true soul mate.
One True Love
I believe there is one true love
For each of us in this life.
Sometimes we get it right the first shot,
Sometimes it all just goes to pot.
Irrational decisions, regrets, and flat out mistakes;
This life is our own to make.
If the first love, for some reason, doesn’t work;
She drifted away; He turned into a jerk;
Then pick yourself up and try it again.
You can only be a loser for so long,
Eventually you have to win.
Straighten your priorities, what really means the most?
Is it what you might gain?
Or is it dwelling on what you have already lost?
Is forever really a fair price to pay
For life’s mistakes that you cannot change?
To die old and lonely,
Just because you passed up the chance
To find your own true love.
Some people choose to live out their days
In solitude, all by themselves.
I’ve heard this before, and for some reason it stuck,
“Happiness isn’t real unless you have someone to share it with.”
And it is true, if you think about it.
What difference do the small joys in life make,
If they do not affect anybody else?
When you are in your thirties, the rest of your life
Is quite a long time.
There is no logical reason to spend it sad and lonely.
Everyone has friends they can lean on,
But that is completely different than having a companion.
A lover with whom to share
All of your innermost thoughts and secrets,
Someone to live ordinary daily life with,
And most of all, someone who is willing to share your dreams.
