Sometimes something is too beautiful to be captured, and stuffed in a cage. Sometimes you just hav to be satisfied with beholding that beauty once, and carry the memory with you forever.

I wanted to dance with you for a lifetime,
To hold you close and never let go.
I wanted to capture your beauty in kisses
Put our love on display so that
The whole world would know.

That you belonged to me.
Your beauty beyond compare,
But sadly
It was not meant to be,
Your heart was not meant to be ensnared.

Once caught,
I couldn’t help but notice,
The sadness in your eyes.
You began to drift away,
For you longed to soar,
In open skies.

To spread your wings,
And shed your light.
To love the world,
With all your might.

And still I couldn’t let go,
I could not let you come to harm,
That’s when you told me,
To love you with open arms.
