Free verse didactic (philosophical pondering).

Transforming
a single destructive tendency

requires revolutionary self-effort

(and persistent worship at the altar of intent)

To alter one undesirable habit
might count as a lifetime’s

accomplishment.

It’s as tricky as
rolling a boulder up a mountain-

one trip

and it may tumble back to base

(but every time we slip we learn how not to)

Basic human nature
navigates polarized currents

performing Yin-Yang acrobatics

A pessimist points fingers (all of them, plus toes)
at our mistakes
claiming them to be as inevitable
and obvious

as a smoking chimney when a fire’s been lit

An optimist insists
(ultimately)
we’ll overcome them,

as sure as Heavenly orbs rise and set

Both are correct

    …performing Yin-Yang acrobatics…

How stunning is that line. I’m amazed at the beautiful language in this poetry. And the message is wonderful. Thanks Rama.

And don’t you forget to come and look at my work on Triond. A comment here and there would be NICE!
