Another poem from Silly Stories. This is no child’s poem =P, but actually like Nick Nack Paddy Whack.

Another poem from Silly Stories! This one is called Oscar the Octopus, and goes in a sequence related to Nick Nack Paddy Whack. Except this is about football. And an octopus O.O. Enjoy-

Oscar the Octopus

Oscar the Octopus put on a shoe,

Got ready to shoot- he knew what to do!

Oscar the Octopus put on a second,

It took much longer than Oscar had reckoned

Oscar the Octopus put on shoe three,

A crowd had just gathered to watch by the sea,

Waving and singing in anticipation,

Of Oscar, the latest goal-scoring sensation.

Oscar the Octopus put on shoe four,

He felt just great and was longing to score.

Oscar the Octopus put on shoe five,

The game was a big one and televised live.

The whole crowd was swaying and cheering,

And hoping that Oscar would soon be appearing.

Oscar the Octopus put on shoe six,

and stood on his head as he practiced some kicks.

Oscar the Octopus put on shoe seven,

And straightened his jersey- he was number eleven.

He gazed in the mirror and felt really proud,

It was time for his debut in front of the crowd.

Just one more shoe- would he ever be ready?

The laces were tangled, his nerves were unsteady.

Oscar the Octopus put on shoe eight,

Walked on the field but the Ref said, “Too late.

The game is all over, the whistle has blown,

Nobody scored, and the crowd has gone home.”
