Poem describing the emotions and feelings on getting a new tattoo.

Ouch but it’s worth it.

Which one to choose?

There are hundreds on the wall

Each as nice as the next

Some huge, others really small

What design to have

Do I want colour or grey?

A flower, bird or bee

I could be here all day.

Decision made I sit

In the big black seat

He shaves my arm

Gosh it’s gonna be neat

The clean fresh smell

As he wipes the spot

Then the buzz of the tool

As he makes that first dot

The pain like a burn

As the needle paints it on

This design I have chosen

Hope it won’t take too long

I know it’s an art

And the pain will soon go

My skin will cool doawn

From this really hot glow

Half way through the sketch

He takes a short break

I stand by the mirror

and a quick look I take

Sharp intake of breath

As the beauty I see

In this piece of art

That will become part of me

He tells me to sit

And I brace once again

I know now it’s worth

Suffering the pain

He finishes his work

Wipes away excess ink

Hands me a mirror

Says” what do you think?

I can only say wow!

Its amazing! it’s great!

I must show my friends

I really can’t wait

As soon as it’s over

You forget all the pain

And then you can’t wait

To do it all again.

A few weeks later

And back in the chair

How many more?

I’m not sure I care.
