Early in the summer we took a walk in the woodland near our home and it was so inspirational.

*

Today we took a woodland walk

As wind blew gently through the trees,

And bluebells formed a carpet blue

Which stretched as far as eyes could see.

*

Shadows playing in summer sun

Cast ghostly forms in undergrowth,

And sudden rustling attracted eyes

To rabbits darting to and fro.

*

Along the winding pathways dark

Nature’s cries filled morning air,

And in the branches o’er our heads

Squirrels leapt past unaware.

*

Deep we strolled into the depths.

A mystical journey through years past,

Enjoying a tranquil moment in time

In a life which is flying by so fast.

*

The magical quality of the scene around

With inspiration filled my head,

Creating for me the words I needed

Which so far had remained unsaid.

*

And so we left this magical place

With its myriad of hues a sight so rare.

Both knowing that without our trees

The world would seem so barren and bare.

*

That was so lovely. I use to have a view of woods behind my house but now they are cutting down my wonderful trees to built more houses. It makes me sad.
